About We Yone CarnivalThe concept of ‘We Yone Carnival’ came to me from years of partaking in the Nottinghill Carnival. It is inspired by the union it brings to a diverse nation. Carnival is a celebration of life, past struggles, culture, diversity and heritage of the people and I hope it brings the same positive vibes and good spirits to our beloved country, Sierra Leone.
I believe we need something to bring light to our beloved country. Sierra Leone have been in the back burner of African countries for so long with nothing but unfortunate press news and devastating natural disasters, and I believe its time to bring something in the capital that will not just benefit 1 or 2 individuals but will benefit the people of Sierra Leone and the country as a whole.
My main aim for this carnival is to restore some joy, erase the rancor, show off Sierra Leone’s diversity, give the diaspora a reason to not only visit home but to enjoy home, and to rehabilitate the nation's reputation as a place where mass events can occur without near-anarchy.
