About SUDU Salone
Here at SUDU, we are driven by a single goal; to provide every orphan/displaced child in Sierra Leone, a home. We want to provide Sierra Leone a model for quality, orphan care programs that addresses these children’s most critical, developmental, and social-emotional needs.

Our organization, established in 2018, serves children and families in Sierra Leone by matching displaced children ages 3-6 years into loving homes with families who we train and mobilize to support to the children’s educational, health and socio-emotional needs.

Using a three-prong program framework that includes family development, education and training, we partner with community stakeholders to create a system for orphan care that serves the social and emotional development of children, while giving them the resources needed to ensure they become productive adults in the future.

It is important to note that there is no existing formal foster care system in Sierra Leone. In addition, Sierra Leone remains among the world’s poorest nations, ranking 180 out of 187 countries in the Human Development Index (HDI). According to the HDI, more than 60 percent of Sierra Leoneans live on less than $1.25 a day. We are driven to be among the pioneers who are advocating for such a system by highlighting the value of sustainable child development that can subsequently improve the socio-economic status of families, and eventually communities.
