About National Tourist Board
Tourism Development is not only a public driving sector, so together with our partners in the public and private sector, the National Tourist Board is working to establish Sierra Leone’s emerging tourist industry to enhance socio-economic development, with particular emphasis on eco-tourism. Sierra Leone’s potential is vast and with continuing improvements to the supporting infrastructures, facilities, sites, attractions and service quality, this undiscovered paradise has something special to offer to all our special visitors.

The National Tourist Board was established by an Act of Parliament in 1990 and started operations in 1991. It is a semi-autonomous body and the professional arm of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.

The Board’s main objective is to enhance the development of Sierra Leone’s tourism opportunities and market Sierra Leone worldwide as an attractive tourist destination. It is also tasked with developing and promoting sustainable tourism development and maintaining the operations of all tourist establishments to ensure quality service delivery in compliance with the ECOWAS standards of classification of Tourist Establishments.
